The material used to make Salem cutting mats is the result of many years of testing. Salem mats will not warp, even after severe temperature change. Rolled-up mats will flatten out nicely on a table top, faster with the help of a hair dryer.
Salem mats are tough enough to cut on, yet soft enough to tack into (pin patterns and fabrics to the mat to prevent slippage or crawling as you cut.) If the mat develops "ridges" as a result of cutting sharp curves or heavy use, sandpaper will smooth out the ridges without damaging the mat.
The material is a 1/8" thick rubbery-plastic material which is not transparent, but does allow light to pass through. Place white paper under the mat and see how "alive" and bright the mat becomes.
Grids are printed in red, with 1" spacing.
Mat #11824 is 18.5" x 24.5"
